3d Modeling – Old Forgotten Days

When I first started to learn 3D modelling, the first thing I took a crack at was my eternity ring from a previous relationship. It was a 2-tone titanium with sapphires; it took me a while to make the model, but it was cool to see it in Blender. That was 2016; now jump to 2025. I’ve built manors, weapons and other things in Blender. I ditched Adobe during the pandemic and started to use Affinity in everything graphical, and what have I realised. I can recreate things now that are no longer around, a basic idea I barely could make in Flash; I can now build and walk around in. For example, take the image below.

Tesla Chamber

It’s a building I never thought I would see through my eyes; I always thought it would stay in my head. Now I can walk around it; the sword I can use in the engine, and the pistols I can fire in the engine.

So with Zed-heaD my upcoming game, I decided a few months ago to change everything. The original idea was a COD Zombies clone, but I saw something that blew my mind. Below is an intro of a game that made me feel like I fell through a portal back to my teens.

Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer

So soon as I saw it, I was like wtf am I doing? This is my first proper game. My teenage self would be hitting me over the head going. DUDE YOU MAKE GAMES NOW FUCKING MAKE OUR DREAM GAME. So from that moment I scrapped everything, I went lets change everything after Living Legacy, and then I rewatched John Carpenter’s Vampires and thought it was such a cool idea Vampire Hunters for Hire who literally didn’t give a fuck like James Woods was so cool in it… so i thought Zed-heaD SlayerZ it is then. Also John Carpenter is one of my fav director’s as he says he hates Authority and as I grew up I started to feel the same.

Anyway, back to the story, so I started to look at things from the 2000s when I was with my mates running to Blockbuster to get snacks and games before running back to an old friend’s house to play Guitar Hero 3 and Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3 on his PS2. I realised, even though Blockbuster is gone, I remember it as clear as day, so I started 3D modelling the place, and that thought made me realise things aren’t lost to time. I can rebuild them, so below is the work in progress of it, but this will be used in the game.

For the rest about Zed-heaD, well that will be for another time.

Till then cheerio…
